Blu-Ray News

Post by RobotJerk » Sun Aug 15, 2010 8:20 pm

I figured the HD-DVD vs. Bluray thread was played out, so a new thread about blu-ray release news is probably warranted.

Having said that, the Holy Grail of Blu-Rays has a release schedule...

Image
On Saturday, the studio is to announce that it will release all six live-action “Star Wars” features on Blu-ray DVD in fall 2011. A boxed set containing the Blu-ray versions of the movies, spanning from 1977’s “Star Wars” through the final 2005 prequel, “Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith,” will mark the first time the films have been offered in a high-definition home format, and will include documentary features and previously unseen footage.

The article states they're the same as the 2004 dvd release. The original masters are too messed up to be transferred to hi-def anytime soon, they claim.

The theatrical cuts that were released on DVD as bonus disks later on were allegedly dvd transfers of the 1995 laserdisk release.

Here's a whole article about the history of Star War video releases:

I wish after Hayden Christensen's name they'd put "Actor" with quotation marks.
