Post by Satan » Tue Sep 20, 2005 9:22 pm

I recently got my first DVD burner (external double layer) and was wondering if all jou haxx0r5 could give tell me what prog you use for your DVD burning. So far, Nero has been giving me headaches.

I've never had a moment's trouble with Nero. In gratitude for the years of great service, I actually went out and slapped down $100 for a full off the shelf version of it after having used it for many moons via cracks and whatnot.

I got a lot of love for Nero because it works so sweet with the program I use to rip commercial video DVDs, DVDShrink.

I also like DVDDecrypter for burning XBOX ISOs because the interface is simple.

What the best software for copying...er, I mean, making back-ups of my DVDs I already bought?

Thanks.

DVDFab Decrypter + DVDShrink + Nero = my favorite combo that works 60% of the time, everytime... er, everytime

I'm a big believer in using AnyDVD+CloneDVD to rip. It does a better job at recoding and overcoming security issues than DVDShrink...it's worked 100% of the time for me so far. While CloneDVD doesn't integrate with Nero (unfortunately) and doesn't allow you to select the amount of compression per title, it does allow you to delete titles, such as those annoying FBI notices at the beginning of most discs.

And if you don't like AnyDVD for whatever reason (for example, my cracked version dies after running twenty minutes), there's always DVD43 (freeware) for overcoming security measures.

I haven't tried DVD43 yet, that's the first time I've heard of it.

It worked just fine when I tried using it. However, you do have to install a Patin-Coufin access layer driver for it to read the disc properly, as opposed to the old Adaptec ASPI driver.

But both are free and work pretty well.

I'm running into more and more discs that DVD Decrypter cannot handle (no more updates :(). Are you DVDFab Decrypter users finding that it fills the holes that are cracking in DVD Decrypter?

I've never heard of DVD43. Sounds like a good safety net. I'll try that if all else fails.

yes.

Dvd Decrypter is obsolete now.

You can run any DVD ripping program with DVD43 or AnyDVD removing the copy protection in the background (I've even used Nero's Recoder with them). Also, they're still being updated, and I've personally found no copy protection either one can't defeat.
