NES is back in 2016
Re: NES is back in 2016
Nope. They are still hard to find.
Re: NES is back in 2016
So, they are doing the SNES now, but they still can't meet the demand for the NES Classic.
Meanwhile, Nintendo Switch is crowding shelves up.

Re: NES is back in 2016
proof that Nintendo doesn't know the market anymore.
Re: NES is back in 2016
Them releasing StarFox 2 into the SNES release was smart, but if you don't just use an emulator on your computer or build your own Raspberry Pi/RetroPie system if you want an "On TV" feel, I just don't know what to tell you.

Re: NES is back in 2016
Watch the SNES come with 3 inch cords for the controller.
The problem I see with the Switch is the same problem Nintendo has had for years. I see a system with a gimmick and a bunch of shelf warmer titles.
You'd think they'd learn to wait and launch a system with some good games.

I fundamentally don't understand how stupid Nintendo is at this point.die wrote: ↑Thu Jul 27, 2017 3:50 pmWatch the SNES come with 3 inch cords for the controller.

All the best game companies manufacture third party games for platforms that are similar - specifically Sony and MS. These companies can hedge their bet that the next Xbox or Playstation will be the big runner console, but since they play pretty similarly the third party titles translate really well across both platforms. Doesn't matter if you're playing Madden or Battlefront, you can get by.
Then you have Nintendo, designing systems that are completely different, so while they get a little run off exclusive titles like Zelda/Metroid/Mario that would have gotten run if they put their console on a pickle with a screen, they can't enjoy any of the free run that comes with third party development.
All they need to do is create a competitive, even slightly inferior console that plays similarly to MS/Sony, and they are gold with their exclusives. I just don't fucking understand how they can be this stupid.

Re: NES is back in 2016
Well, you also have to ask yourself WHERE ARE THE BIG FIRST PARTY NINTENDO GAMES?
I mean FUCK, what else do they have to do? They want to sell the system based on their own brand and yet they trickle out decent first party titles. The systems should launch with a new Mario game, Zelda, Metroid, Starfox, Pokémon, etc.
The only game I wanted on switch was the new Zelda and when I saw it was also coming out on WiiU, I was like fuck it and just got the WiiU version. I've yet to see a reason to pick up a Switch at all.

Re: NES is back in 2016
So, which one of you is buying up all the SNES Classics and selling them for $200 a piece?
Re: NES is back in 2016
Got a SNES Classic...Meridian Best Buy FTW. They got nine Saturday, but when my friend picked one up for me there were just two left. I'm sure those are long gone now. It's crazy how it's almost a half-sized clone of the original, and the controllers are legit SNES pads, even if the cords are short as all get-out.
Re: NES is back in 2016
Yeah, I got one too back before Christmas.
Also, last year I scored a knock off of the NES for about 18 bucks lol.
Now, I see that other companies are jumping on board trying to cash in on this.
At this point though, I think I've quenched my thirst for nostalgia and the whole cuteness aspect of thsee things. I look at the stuff like this that I have and I'm like: I HAVE ALREADY EMULATED ALL OF THESE GAMES FOR FREE ON NICER SETUPS.

Re: NES is back in 2016
I ran the Game Wizard image on my Raspberry Pi which initializes RetroPie to download games from a repository. So you install the image, download a whole console's library, and game on. The only reason I don't use it principally is because running multiple controller setups is a pain, and I don't feel like going through the motions of transferring everything to a thumb drive. Also, NeoGeo emulation is crappy in the Pi. I installed RetroArch on my nVidia Shield, which handles most consoles just fine, and the controller is boss. But I screwed up a config and have been too lazy to figure it out.
So I like the simplicity of the SNES mini. Plus the wireless 8bitdo controller I got for it rocks the Casbah.

Re: NES is back in 2016
I've got the 8bitdo controller too, I fucking love it.
Picked up a GPD last year and I've been using it mostly for my emulation. It's fucking great.
