You see the dude try to kick it over??

Boston Dynamics is building some crazy shit. They've got robots programmed to chase you down and navigate over obstacles and shit. One bot they made is similar to a cheetah, it runs at like 27 mph.

Image

Just think of the possibilities.

They built a rolling device called the sand flea that is insane.

That cheetah thing needs rockets on its haunches, snarl a lot, and make a crazy noise when it turns into a cassette tape.

That's the exact same point I was trying to get across to Michael Bay.

They should've hired Boston Dynamics to make the new Robocop.

Michael Bay should've been watching them too.

Which reminds me, you guys should snag a Masterpiece Soundwave if you can...it is a thing of majesty, and it comes with the five original cassettes, including Ravage.
Image

For that matter, Ravage has shown up a lot over the last few years. Not just in the movie...there was a alien disc version from earlier this year that plugged into the Cybertronian Soundwave truck figure and the one that came with Classics Hound.

Anyway. Those things have come a long way since they were emulating monkey swinging robots a few years ago. Not to mention a whole lot further than the goofy ping-pong playing robot project that I bailed on at MSU around 2000.

^ That is freaking awesome.

I have the Masterpiece Prime and the World's Smallest Transformers Soundwave. Damn, I said I wouldn't buy any more Transformers but that Soundwave is a must have.

did you ever get the Soundwave MP3 player?

Soundwave is by far my favorite Transformer. I remember the day I bought my Gen 1 version.

I would have liked to get the Music Label version, as it would have scaled well with the rest of the Classics line. But the blue one (not interested in the white) has been hard to get for anything resembling a decent price, and for what it costs I expect the electronics to work properly, a problem that plagues the line. For what it costs, you can import a Masterpiece Soundwave if you can't find it in the States (which is tough...I had a friend in Kansas City ship me one). The Sonicron figure was a cool modern design, but there's a reason that it goes for as low as it does...the thing literally won't hold together. It wouldn't be worth it if it were ten bucks. Shame too, as it's a neat concept based on the original Walkman design.

Plus, no cassettes come with either, which is part of the whole point of having Soundwave in the first place. The TRU Masterpiece Soundwave comes with all five originals, which makes it worth the effort to track down. Plus it's the right scale to fit in with the latest set of Masterpiece figures (which are all awesome pieces).
