ATTENTION: Our Heroes are all old now

Post by die » Wed Apr 21, 2004 8:26 pm

All of us who post here are pretty big movie buffs, so I'll bet this is something we have all thought about at least once....

The actors from the movies that we all grew up on are old as hell now

I was checking out http://www.imdb.com/ when I started really seeing how old alot of these people are now. I'll probably always be interested in movies, especially now that DVDs are so much fun with all the special features and everything. I'll probably buy most of the great movies that sparked my imagination from when I was younger. Well, now I'm beginning to sound gay & nostalgic, so I'll just get to the old fuckers immediately.

First up, come on and give it up for Luke Skywalker, AKA Mark Hamill. Most kids out there wanted to be Luke Skywalker or at least Boba Fett. Hell, anyway you look at it, Luke was the man for most kids.

Image
Mark Hamill
Date of Birth: 25 September 1951

omg ouch. He looks like my dad could dunk on him now.

and since I mentioned Star Wars, How about Han Solo AKA Harrison Ford?

Image
Harrison Ford
Date of Birth: 13 July,1942

and not just Star Wars...This is Indiana Jones...Rick Deckard from Blade Runner! He was the man, now he's "teh old man!!!111". I have this conspiracy theory about the "new" Indiana Jones film. They keep on saying that it is being delayed because they can't get the script worked out like they want it. They say it is because Lucas, Ford and Spielberg all have to agree on a specific script. I'll bet they don't think they can actually pull it off do to Ford's age. That's what I really think is going on. I saw Harrison Ford on a talkshow (Letterman, Leno, who cares?) trying to sling the old whip and he looked like shit. His whip needed viagra.

Oh, and Blade Runner. how about Roy Batty himself? Rutger Hauer?

Image
Rutger Hauer
Date of Birth: 23 January 1944

This guy was always a cool actor. I can't believe that he is actually younger than Ford. Just think, Blade Runner came out in 1982 and I always imagined that Hauer & Ford would've been about 30-32 at the most in those films.....now, you do the math.

Rutger Hauer is actually supposed to have a part in the new Batman movie, believe it or not! Speaking of Batman.....

When I was young, there was one comic book turned movie that just owned my ass. It clearly set the standard for the comic-inspired movies we see today. that movie was 1989's Batman.

Image
Michael Keaton
Date of Birth: 5 September 1951

Image
Jack Nicholson
Date of Birth: 22 April 1937

Now, that really breaks my ass in half. Damn, 1989 doesn't seem like it could have possibly been that long ago, does it? Those fauckers look busted and ready to tap out at any moment!

Now, you could not have action films in the '80's & 90's without these 2 guys.....

Image
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Date of Birth: 30 July 1947

Image
Sylvester Stallone
Date of Birth:6 July 1946

These days, Hollywood seems desperate for new action stars to pass the torch to. You know why?

Image
Johnny Depp
Date of Birth: 9 June 1963

Image
Brad Pitt
Date of Birth: 18 December 1963

Both of these guys, who are viewed as relatively "newcomers" to the action films, are both over 40. To me, that seems pretty hard to imagine, I mean it doesn't seem right for some reason, does it?

So, back to what I was saying before.... So,Who does Hollywood try to pass off as the next Arnold?

Image
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Date of Birth: 2 May 1972

I just don't see it. I'll admit that The Scorpion King was way better than I expected it to be, but it couldn't touch the classic Conan movies. the Rundown was gottdamned A-W-F-U-L & even Christopher Walken couldn't save it one bit (it could've used more cowbell and less cowshit). Walking Tall looks to be a better film, but Spy Hunter is probably going to have to eat ass. Rock is still a fairly young guy at 32, but i don't see how he could ever come close to shit like Predator,Commando,Terminator, Running Man or Total Recall. Swartzeneggar was able to make a huge success out of himself even though he was clearly limited by his accent.

I hope this thread makes everybody here feel old as hell.

My dad is the same age as Arnold. We kid him about there being only 48 states when he was born.

He still hasn't had to do REALLY awful movies...yet

and give him time....remember, even Ah-Nuld was Hercules Goes Bananas first....let the Rock know his role....

I personally think he would kick ass as the main character in Doom

Jackie Chan

He's been around for a long time and just turned 50.

Wanna talk old? How about the "Bonds", of course theres....

Image
Sean "Buckfutter" Connery
25 August 1930

Who proves that teh classics never die. Always a pimp even as an old pimp. He also played Indiana Jones' dad which could be viewed as a stretch since Connery would've gotten Indy's mom pregnant when he was 12 yrs. old. OH SNAP.

Harrison Ford is a dirty old fuck.

and who could forget....

Image
Roger "Viagra" Moore
14 October 1927

That fucker is for real old school.

Image
Pierce "Lucky Fag" Brosnan
16 May 1953

I didn't realize he was already so old. Maybe it's time for a new Bond?

One of the names on the shortlist as the next bond is actually...

Image
Ewan "It's all Obi Wan's Fault" McGregor
31 March 1971

I shit you not, it's true.Think he could pull it off?

Some of it is just insane. Who in the fuck would want Colin Farrell or Russell Crowe as Bond?

Hugh Grant!?!?!

Anyways, word is that there will be another person playing Bond in the next film for 2005.

here's the most recent news....
Bond star in the dark
By SUN ONLINE REPORTER

JAMES Bond star Pierce Brosnan is still being kept in the dark as to whether he will play the suave secret agent again, he said today.

Bond producers are reportedly considering a younger face to take over from the 50-year-old Irish actor, who has portrayed the superspy four times since 1995.

Promoting his new movie Laws Of Attraction in New York last night, he told GMTV: "The producers asked me back, I said 'yes', then a certain sense of paralysis set in.

"They don’t know whether they’re coming or going, so when they figure out what they’re doing, they know where to find me, and should it be the case that we go again, then great."

Filming of the next Bond movie is due to begin next year.

Pierce is credited with having breathed new life into the franchise since first appearing as 007 in Goldeneye in 1995.

But many names have been suggested as possible replacements, including Ewan McGregor, Jude Law, Colin Farrell, Colin Firth and Hugh Jackman.

HOLLYWOOD — Maverick filmmaker Quentin Tarantino thinks he has a solution to Pierce Brosnan’s reluctance to return as James Bond: A remake of Casino Royale.

“There is a thin chance that might work out,” Tarantino said in interviews this week for Kill Bill Vol. 2. “I’ve talked to Pierce Brosnan about doing it, all right.”

Tarantino is famous for his stylish violence in films such as Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, and the two Kill Bill instalments, the second of which opens later this month.

Brosnan seems to be out of the next 007 project, slated for release in 2005. Brosnan has said his negotiations with the Bond producers are at “an impasse” and that they are “paralysed” in planning for the next Bond.

And as the Sun reported, Brosnan’s neighbour and friend, actor Michael Madsen, says Brosnan told him that he’s finished with the series and also heard that the producers “bought him out” and have an Australian actor to replace him.

Tarantino says everyone involved should let him experiment with a cheaper, scaled-down, Bond movie that would rely on story and character, not special effects.

His gamble could bring Brosnan back for a final fling.
“I don’t know that (the Bond producers) have anything to lose, at all,” Tarantino said. “They’ve got this gigantic franchise. They can’t do anything wrong with it. Pierce Brosnan’s only going to do one more movie for them, if that.

“So, if he stayed on to do one more for me … (Tarantino grins happily at the prospect) … Just this one year, let’s go my way and do it a little different and I won’t do anything that will ruin the series. You know it’s going to make its money back, and we all do good and we win the critics this time.”

Tarantino said his $40-million project plan would give the Bond producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli “some leverage” with Brosnan and break the impasse.

“My film won’t cost $100 million. That’s the thing — they would have to want to do one differently and, after I did mine, they could go and do theirs again all right.

“If I owned the (Casino Royale) material, I would set it in the ’60s, but I’m sure I would have to do it now (in the 2000s),” Tarantino said of the version he hopes to make.

I actually thought that "Die Another Day" wasn't too bad at all.

As far as Bond girls go, Uma Thurman wants to be one, Catherine Zeta Jones was in the running a while back and most recently Kylie Minogue was supposedly offered a part as a Bond girl.

Pierce Brosnan was pushing for Kiera Knighly most recently, thus he even more so earns the nickname of lucky fag.
