True or False?

Post by $nave » Mon Mar 08, 2004 4:18 pm

True or false: Drafting a Duke basketball player and expecting him to be a superstar is like drafting a University of Florida quarterback and expecting him to be a superstar.

False, to an extent.

Carlos Boozer will be a star. Superstar, no. He is already a solid player and I only expect him to improve.

He might be the exception to an otherwise very good rule.

True or False:

The Madden Curse has now superceded the SI curse as the premier mark of doom for athletes.

That's true... St. Joe's no-sold the SI curse and when undefeated whilst every NFL player that gets the Madden treatment since 2001 had a shitty season.

Madden 2001: Eddie George
Result: One of NFL's consistent leading rushers watched his production drop by 600 yards.

Madden 2002: Daunte Culpepper
Result: TD Passes drop from 33 to 14.

Madden 2003: Marshall Faulk
Result: Ankle injury sidelines him for the majority of the season.

Madden 2004: Michael Vick
Result: Freak injury in a preseason game keeps Vick out for all but the final three games of the season.

True or False: Paying through the nose for a Spring Training Yankee's/Red Sox ticket is worse than paying for Chicago Bulls season tickets.

Depends... that "pitcher" for Cleveland will always catch hell anywhere he goes, but will get much love if they play the San Francisco Giants... :atch:

False.

While incredibly foolish, paying for the Red Sox tickets only bangs your wallet once. Bulls season tickets are the Ro-sham-bo that keeps on kicking.

Warren Sapp won't get picked up anywhere unless he drops his asking fee by a huge margin.

True. You need look no further than the Freak going to Philly. Jevon Kearse is the cream of defensive linemen free agent crop and low-stat Sapp needs to put his Bucs jersey back on because he ain't going anywhere. Sapp fears free agency....
"I'm inside, and there's a door with an exit sign on it and ain't nobody guarding it. It's my choice to take that door, and that's not my first choice."

"It's not about the money. I collected $40 million in the last nine years. I'm not going to sit here and tell you I should command a $30 million or $100 million deal. That's not going to come out of my mouth. All I'm going to do is hand them my resume," Sapp said.
True or False: ESPN's "Dream Job" epitomizes everything you hate about Sportscenter. Might I add "Ramalamahamjam" and "Booyah."

Nothing is more true than this. Clearly this idea was the spawn of Satan. For a long time the funny anecdotes were great, but they are all so tired and out-done, it is nothing short of asstastic.

False: As long as the L. A. Clippers exist, they are the worst anything in sports. Don't get me wrong, Danny Ainge does suck... He makes Isiah Thomas look like a Mensa member.

True or False: ABC and Monday Night Football went out of their way to fuck up when they brought in Dennis Miller to call football games.

True. NFL can make any network cuts backflips... All they have to say is, "Look at what happened to NBC Sports. They show arena football. You want that?" The funniest thing about Playmakers is when the Bucs said they wouldn't talk to ESPN due to Playmakers. It couldn't be because that they let the Colts comeback from 3 touchdowns in the last five minutes of their game.

True of False: The fact that the BCS added another bowl game instead of adding an AP #1 vs. Coaches #1 game shows that they want to cash in before college football finds another system.

False. It shows that they are retards. All they would have to do is create a 4 team, 3 game "elite" playoff system and they could eliminate the BCS while still keeping as many bowls as possible. It would also be the second biggest game of the year (behind Super Bowl).

-also, this would still keep football separate from college basketball. Since only 4 teams make it to the short playoffs, the regular season DOES matter.
-this solution would be timely and effective, and would destroy all doubt as to who the best team is.
-College Football doesn't want this, since controversy = teh raytigs.

Very true. While everyone is "hailing the King", the fact of the matter is that the Cavs still have one of the worst records in the league. The Nuggets, on the other hand, have made an oustanding turn-around with the addition of Mello(take notes Pauly Paul...your star player is supposed to help your team win, not just show up on Sportscenter all the time).

That's true. Paul + Walker = actual Eastern Conference Champion contender. Now they are chilling with the Cavs in the final playoff spot (as of today). Ainge is slowly killing the team.
Wishing for lottery luck might be better for the franchise, director of basketball operations Danny Ainge admits in a Florida Today story. "I think the playoffs are great for the players, coaches and fans, but I'm not going to lie about it," Ainge said. "For the long-term part of this, it's obviously better for us to get a higher draft pick. That's just the truth." Still, Ainge says that he is not advocating the Celtics lose games on purpose.
Whatta bitch. Did he watch "Major League" and got dreams of moving the team to Florida?

False.

Even healthy, they are not as good as the Spurs or the Kings this year. And healthy is not something that is guaranteed. On top of this, there are major chemistry issues on the team. Don't discount the Mavericks or the Timberwolves chances of coming out of the west either.

True or False:

Spring Training Baseball is tougher to watch than Arena Football.
