I agree, except lose the chicken wire, but still allow the crowd to throw real liquor bottles at him.
I accept that the first Road House was a joke, but it was a good joke. It has to have just the right mix of white trash, badass, titties and cheese to work. If you get one ingredient wrong or off by the slightest measurement and you end up with dickbreaking failure.
look at Total Recall. They removed the cheese, titties, violence, and it tanked horribly.
In Road House, Jimmy actually says "I used to fuck guys like you in prison" and his toughness rating actually doubles.
I bet you typed that with a straight face

I typed that with a gay face.

At this point, Repo Man would normally remind us of the greatness of Road House in a way no one can dispute and then Jesus Las Vegas would come in and tell us to take it to the official thread.

Things get to get weird in the Unoffical thread though.

I have never watched Roadhouse.

I have seen the boxcover for Roadhouse II at the local blockbuster when it was still open.

A man's life is only measured in 2 distinct timeframes....

BRH and ARH

Before Road House and After Road House

It's like when Louis opens his eyes for the first time as a vampire in Interview with the Vampire. You see shit you never saw before, magic shit.

and you have special powers.

Absolutely. The philosophical suggestion that pain don't hurt caused a paradigm shift in my life that I'm still not sure I've fully recovered from.

Exactly.

Do you know how many times I've practiced throat rips?

Now that's a finishing move.

Gerard Butler, who was almost Snake Plissken in an ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake which didn’t need to happen, will offer his take on a role made incredibly memorable by Patrick Swayze in 1991’s POINT BREAK.

In the upcoming, Kurt Wimmer scripted remake of that film…

Butler will play Bodhi, an expert extreme-sports athlete who seeks nirvana through the conquest of a series of athletic feats such as surfing 100-foot waves. He saves Johnny Utah, the undercover FBI agent, and brings him into the fold of international criminals. The part of Utah is not cast yet.
…says THIS piece in THR.

Scripter Wimmer is not a new visitor to the the Remake-O-Matic, having previously served as a writer on John McTiernan’s rather good 1991 take on THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR, and Len Wiseman’s rather ungood TOTAL REMAKE rehash in 2012.

The POINT BREAK revisitation will be helmed by Ericson Core, a DP turned director who brought us the Mark Wahlberg football drama INVINCIBLE back in 2006 (which he also shot). His DP credits encompass an impressive array of titles, including PAYBACK and the first FAST AND THE FURIOUS film. Ericson Core is, by the way, a badass name.

While Butler never got to play Snake Plissken, his brutal, uncompromising, pseudo-anti-hero in last year’s OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN was a nice match. He was excellent in that impressively hard-driving and visceral film, and will soon be reprising the part in its sequel, LONDON HAS FALLEN.

wtf.

Swayze can't rest easy with shit like this happening.

That Snake Plissken play probably had Repo Man turning in his grave too.
